Description
The Strato Players are a fantastic, all-in-one player with internal storage for some movies. But if you have hundreds or even thousands of movies in your collection that you want to have instant access to, you'll want to add a Terra Prime Server.
Terra Prime movie servers store Kaleidescape movies, TV series, and concerts. These movies have lossless audio and reference video, and they are downloaded asynchronously before being played back from local storage. This allows for playback with full fidelity, regardless of internet connectivity.
When a Strato V is grouped with a Terra Prime movie server, its internal storage is disabled in favor of the more scalable server storage. This enables the full Kaleidescape user experience, including the list view and iconic cover shuffle view, which are better suited for larger movie libraries.
Kaleidescape movie files are typically ten times larger than those of streaming services, as they retain near-lossless video and fully lossless audio fidelity from studio masters.
In contrast, streaming movie files are heavily compressed to create smaller files that can be streamed online. Needless to say, you are missing out on a LOT of detail and resolution with streaming.
**Note:** Terra Prime Servers must be paired with a player (ie, Strato V, C, M, and E ) as they cannot operate as a stand-alone system.
